The typical argument is that AI will lead to mass unemployment because the tools will take over simple jobs humans have been doing. The article linked above takes a safety view. Instead of thinking only about this quarter, what capability do we need to maintain to be successful in the future? Even if that can be done with AI, we need humans to have practice to stay fresh. With lessons from the airlines and subsequent FAA regulation, we’ve already learned this lesson once. Let’s find ways to not learn it again.
